$150,000 in five days. That’s what Adelaide Lightning need if they are to remain in the WNBL for the 2015/16 season.
Former Adelaide stalwart and Olympian Rachael Sporn is desperate to get a major sponsor onboard in a bid to keep the team alive and continue to provide the sporting youth of South Australia role models they can aspire to.
Sporn: “[Potential sponsors] have to probably have a love of the game as well, but I think if you have a daughter yourself, and look, even if they don’t, I think if you’re just wanting to have children at grassroots level to have role models to aspire to [you should get involved].”
“Like any sporting organisation there would be opportunities to showcase your brand with the team and I think they’d all have to work together in how we can market the game better. I think it would be seen as such a great thing to do as well if you’re saving the team.”
The Lightning won’t be relying on the State Government for the dosh as they’ve said grass roots club are the priority.
